Macaroni

&Cheese

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 lb. Macaroni 

  • 2 cups hot milk 

  • 1/2 Stick of butter 

  • 1/4 cup Flour

  • (8 oz) 2 cups Gruyere, grated 

  • 1 tsp Salt (more if needed)

  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg 

  • 3/4 cup Bread Crumbs 

  • Olive oil 

  • (4 oz) 1 cup Cheddar, grated

Preparation

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add noodles and cook according to package 

  • Melt 3 Tbsp butter in a medium pot. On low heat, add flour and whisk together for 2 minutes. 

  • While whisking, add hot milk and cook for 1-2 minutes until it is thick and smooth. 

  • ​Remove from heat and add in cheese, 1 tsp salt and nutmeg (add more salt if needed).

  • Add in cooked noodles and stir well. Pour mac and cheese into a 1 1/2 Qt. baking dish. 

  • In a small bowl, combine 1 Tbsp melted butter and bread crumbs, and sprinkle on top. 

  • ​Bake in oven for 30-35 minutes at 375 degrees until bubbly and brown on to​
