Smokey Cheese Squares

Ingredients

  • 2 Medium onions, thinly sliced

  • 1 Tbsp. Butter

  • 1 Tbsp. Olive oil

  • 1 Tbsp. Brown sugar

  • 1 Tbsp. Balsamic vinegar (2 oz)

  • 1 Boboli pizza shell

  • 1/4 Cup Dates, pitted and chopped

  • 1/4 Cup Pine nuts

  • 1/2 Cup Smoked cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 1/2 Cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded (2oz)

  • 1/2 Cup Smoked gouda cheese, shredded (2oz)

Preparation

Prep: Preheat oven to 450. In a large skillet cook onion in butter and oil over medium heat for 10 minutes. Stir in sugar, vinegar and dates. Cook and stir for 5 more minutes, or until onions are golden brown. Remove from heat and stir in nuts.


  • In a bowl combine cheese and spread evenly over bread shell. Top with onion mixture. Place shell on uncreased baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes or until cheese is melted. 


  • Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting into 2-inch squares. 


  • Makes about 30 squares
