Hasselback Caprese Tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 4 Plum Tomatoes

  • 5 Provolone Cheese slices (cut into quarters)

  • 10 Fresh Basil leaves

  • ¼ Cup Balsamic vinaigrette dressing

Preparation

  • Cut thin lengthwise slice off of one side of each tomato (so it won't roll). Place tomatoes cut side down on a cutting board. Starting at the top of the tomato, make 10 vertical cuts, being careful not to cut through to the bottom. Repeat with remaining tomatoes. 


  • Place tomatoes on serving plate. Insert each cheese and basil peices alternately between the cuts in each tomato. Drizzle with dressing and serve. 

Note:  When slicing tomato, set a wooden spoon next to it so you are less likely to cut too far.
